Hello! This week I worked on my plans for my slab pot. I decided not to begin actually working on it until after spring break, because I don't want anything to dry up. Instead, I glazed my owl mug! I think it looks really cute with the unfired glaze combination, but I'm excited to see what the colors will look once they've been fired. That's about it for this week. I'll update more after spring break!
I finally finished up the World Culture Pot unit and put everything on display! I was getting a bit bogged down with all the different projects going on, so I am quite relieved now that this is complete and on display. I couldn't find any space large enough to place my poster, as it is quite wide, so I had to stick it on the bottom of the wall. It's still a bit smushed on one end unfortunately. I just hope it doesn't fall off at least. On another note, my kitty mug also came out of the kiln! I think it looks quite nice. Check out the wheel-thrown mugs page for nicer images. My owl mug has yet to come out of the kiln. I'll probably glaze it next week.
I glazed my cat mug. It's more like a bruised kitty, though. I accidentally smudged one of the eyes. I tried my best to scrub it off with a sponge, but it still looks a little gray. Other than that, I think my paint job looks pretty good. I used raised accent glaze, so it should 'pop' up a bit. At the end I coated the whole mug with a clear high fire glaze (not pictured). I'm excited to see how it turns out! I also worked on some more research for my WCP poster, and I'll finish making that on Monday.
