Today I started working on my first pinch pot! I decided to try the grapefruit/orange pot first, because it seemed like the most basic pot. It think it turned out nice. I had a ton of cracks and bumps at the beginning, so I used the smoother tool to get rid of them. I also had to score and slip the little leaf and stem! I think the rim of the bowl is a bit too thick. I hope it still turns out okay. In my sketches, I had planned on painting the inside to look like the inside of a fruit, but now I think I'm going to just paint it the same color as the outside, so I can create the illusion as if it is actually a whole piece of fruit, not sliced in half.
Yay! I'm so excited to start this blog!! I promise I will try to be consistent. RIght now, we are starting a unit in pinch pots! There's so many ways to be creative and cool things you can make! Eeek!! I've already made list of things I want to try. A pig, flower, cupcake, bathtub (lol), watermelon. I think I'm going with an everyday-object kind of theme. Oh AND I'm probably going to paint everything some shade of pink. I think I have an obsession. I'll include some sketches below from my sketchbook.
